Michele Bachmann stunned by boy who says: ‘My mommy’s gay but doesn’t need fixing'

An 8 year old boy left Republican contender Michele Bachmann speechless at a book-signing event in South Carolina, after standing up for his gay mother.

Bachmann, who supports a Constitutional amendment which would define marriage as between a man and a woman, initially encouraged the child to speak to her during the weekend event but was left virtually speechless when the boy said his mother was gay.

“My mom is gay and she doesn’t need fixing,” the boy, identified only as Elijah, can be heard whispering to Bachmann in a video posted on YouTube.

Bachmann initially did not respond to the boy, but as he walked away she said: “Ok. Bye-bye.”

The Republican hopeful has come under attack a number of times for her outspoken stance against gay marriage.

Last week Bachmann was confronted by a high school student at an event in Iowa, also asking about gay rights in a video that went viral.

“Why can’t same sex couples get married,” 16-year-old Jane Schmidt asked Bachmann.

“They can get married, [if] they abide by the same laws as everyone else. They can marry a man, if they’re a woman, and can marry a woman if they’re man,” Bachmann responded.

In June of this year, she was glitter-bombed at the conservative RightOnline Conference by a woman, who shouted: "You can run, but you can't hide", referring to Bachmann's support for a ban on same sex marriage in Minnesota.
