Gay couple called "faggots" by United Airlines manager
A San Diego gay couple say they were called "faggots" by a United Airlines manager after they got in an argument with gate agents over access to United's passenger lounge.
The incident allegedly took place as Billy Canu and his partner waited for a flight from Denver International Airport.
After the agents at the airline desk gave them "a very condescending, sort of rude answer", when they requested access, the couple said they were approached by a manager after they started complaining.
Canu claimed that the manager "continued to fuel the fire" rather than trying to calm things down.
The manager then allegedly shouted “idiots” at the pair and, when challenged on this, said “What faggots?” before walking back to the customer service desk.
"We were completely shocked. We were shaking", Canu told ABC-7. "We were totally alarmed."
After the couple posted news of the incident on facebook and twitter, supporters began re-posting the complaint and flooded United Airlines’ pages with outraged comments about the manager's alleged behaviour.
